MAINTENANCE

R.M. Williams

Properly cared for, your boots will retain their appearance and will remain comfortable over their life.

Leather is a natural product so your boots will benefit if the following advice is observed.

Always use the two “tugs” when pulling on your elastic side boots, this will keep the back strong and spread the strain over the “tugs” and the elastic.

Wear your boots if possible in dry conditions on the first few occasions.

Leather boots can require a full day to dry put from natural perspiration. It is desirable that you alternate your boots every few days.

If your boots become saturated with water, allow them to dry naturally, never use direct or forced heat, as this will damage the upper and may damage the sole.

Mud or dirt should be removed from your boots while they are still wet, using a damp cloth and then waiting until dry before cleaning and polishing.

Our Leather Conditioner should be applied regularly to all oily leathers and as needed on finished leathers. This helps to moisturise the leather uppers and keep them supple, so preventing cracking and excessive creasing. For finished uppers this has the added benefit of reducing harmful polish build up. For finished leathers R.M.Williams polish should be used to obtain a shine.

Additions or modifications to either sole or heel, such as synthetic top soles should be avoided, as these can affect the balance and comfort of the boots and can lead to premature in either the sole or upper. Remember that modified boots may void any claim.

Our Primeboots are mostly unlined, so due to this please be aware that sometimes color can spread to socks and trousers, especially visible on light-colored garments.
